Overview

During any interaction of the user several different message windows may appear. These can be to warn the user for some implication of his interaction, or the software requires the user to confirm or reject a certain action, or if his interaction leads to an error.

Message windows

Message windows usually appear upfront when a major action is going to be executed, of which its impact can have big consequences. Think about closing the application, saving the data, etc.

Such message window may look like the example picture below.

The message windows can have three response commands, of which one at least is a response command to close the window.

OK

Yes

Confirm the initial command with all implications.

No

No

Confirm the initial command execution but reject the subsequent question.

Cancel

Cancel

Terminate the command completely without execution.

Message windows that only are for information also need to be closed with the Yes command.

Instant messages

Interaction messages usually appear after an interaction has been executed. It informs the user about the result of the interaction in matter of execution state. This execution state typically is successful or (partial) failure.

There are three of these interaction messages possible. They appear as a symbol in the 3D View. Clicking on the symbol will enlarge the message to show further information about the reason of displaying the message.
